Venda – Family Luxury Tent
The early settlers of the Soutpansberg Mountains were the Venda (or VhaVenda) people. They built their first capital, D’zata, the ruins of which can still be visited today. Venda, although strong in tradition, incorporate an interesting mix of other cultures, having been influenced by East African, Central African, Nguni and Sotho tribes during their migration south.
Trade, warfare and intermarriage with southern tribes, such as Tsonga, Lobedu, Zulu and Swazi, has also left a footprint on the Venda culture in the decades since. The Venda are a musical tribe, and known for the Mbila, an instrument similar to the western xylophone, and for their drum-playing.
The Venda tent has a large private verandah and its own private plunge pool.
