A honeymoon in Simon's Town

What could be better than waking up beside your loved one in an ocean-side suite at the southern tip of Africa—with the sound of penguins beginning their day just below your bedroom.

From your private balcony, you look down to the deep blue of False Bay, Simon’s Town, with its thousands of cormorants skimming the tips of the waves as they fly from their roosts. Down on the beach below, the penguins waddle from their coastal forests onto the beaches and surf into the waves. You enjoy a fresh cup of coffee as the sunrise pops over the mountains across the bay, before heading down for your famous Boulders breakfast.

Tintswalo at Boulders is a wonderful honeymoon or romantic getaway option in Cape Town. Having opened earlier in 2019, we have already welcomed many happy couples through our doors. With nine large, gorgeous suites (and five of them sea facing), the Villa is hidden away in quaint Simon’s Town – away from the hustle and bustle of Cape Town, but close enough to enjoy all the incredible experiences on the Cape Peninsula, Cape Point, the winelands and Cape Town itself. Cape Point is just a few minutes drive up the road from the lodge, while Cape Town city centre is only about 40 minutes away. Within Simon’s Town, there are also a host of amazing restaurants and experiences to enjoy for couples, honeymooners and families alike.

The famous Boulders penguin colony is situated just below the villa, so couples can exit the gate at the bottom of the property and take romantic walks on the boardwalk below; as the penguins waddle around – nearly at touching distance. From Simon’s Town harbour, you can also take canoe trips to paddle with the penguins, boat trips to see the wonderful wildlife of the bay, head out fishing, birdwatching, or even shark cage diving with the famous great whites of seal island.

Simon’s Town is also one of the Cape’s most historic towns, and there are wonderful maritime museums showing the use of the harbour as an important port for ships rounding the southern tip of Africa en route to the East. There are historic houses, a cultural arts market, restaurants, and quaint buildings and shops to peruse. There are many days worth of activities to enjoy in Simon’s Town, and that’s before you head into Cape Town.

Mostly, romantic and honeymooning couples love to stay at the villa and relax, lazing by the pool looking over the sea, enjoying the fresh sea breeze, watching the penguins and having a wonderful time as the Cape summer begins. Everyone who visits Boulders says it feels like a home (a huge home at that), where you have the freedom and space to enjoy the lounges balconies, and can come and go as you please.

We look forward to welcoming you and your loved one at our lovely penguin villa soon.
